Vehicle Overview
Carrozzeria Canta started in 1949 to build bodies with its own brand working with the designer Giovanni Michelotti. Canta worked mainly with Fiat 1100 and Fiat 1400 chassis, unveiling in 1954 two models that clearly recalls the lines of the Studebakers Commander. Those designs got a great public approval and also the attentions of Studebaker Lawyers, forcing Canta to change the design the year after.
Therefore, in 1955, a new series with different lines debuted, just enough to avoid the rip-off accusations.
