The Lancia K Station Wagon entered the price lists at the aforementioned technical upgrades in mid-1996. For some time a trend had been emerging that had transformed station wagons from transportation vehicles into cars aimed at satisfying an increasingly demanding and sophisticated clientele. Thus, Lancia’s designers wanted to create in collaboration with Pininfarina (which also handled the production of the car at its plants in Grugliasco, where the sheet metalwork and painting were done, and San Giorgio Canavese where the bodywork and roadwork were done) an elegant station wagon, with the aim of giving an heir to the family version of the Lancia Thema, from which the car takes the pattern of traditional side roof moldings, in satin-finished metal or dark color, to give a certain representational tone to the car body. Spacious and comfortable, the Lancia K Station Wagon also offers a spacious and well-finished cabin; adopting as standard the sophisticated Nivomat self-levelling suspension system that allows it to maintain the right ground clearance regardless of load. The rear three-quarter of the k Station Wagon is distinguished by clean lines. The sleek tail was also one of the most customer-pleasing aspects.
