Stanguellini – 1100 Berlinetta Special

.

Vehicle Overview

The meeting between Nuccio Bertone and Vittorio Stanguellini in 1947 gave birth to a successful series of sports tourers on mechanics derived from the Fiat 1100, as well as some Fiat 1500s and Lancia Aprilias. Designed by Luigi Rapi, the 1100 Stanguellini introduced the ponton sides, that ran from the nose to the rear end of the car at ‘belt’ level.
Built at Bertone with a mono-block shell in welded steel, the car contributed to spread the integral body structure. Its low weight of 725 kg helped the car to numerous motor sport successes during the period.
