Bugatti EB110

In 1987 the Bugatti brand was dusted off by the Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli and the engineer Paolo Stanzani. Artioli acquired the rights thanks to a presentation dossier of the revival project developed by Stanzani and to the good name of Ferruccio Lamborghini, initially involved in the project. Stanzani, with the Tecnostile studio, immediately set to work on the creation of a high-performance sports car that could rival the best productions of that period as well as position itself as the best high-performance car on the market. The factories for the construction of this car were no longer in France but in Campogalliano, in the Modena area, and were designed by the architect Giampaolo Benedini, who will then also be the final designer of the car. Stanzani left Bugatti, and therefore the technical management of the car, in July 1990, due to incurable disputes with the majority shareholder.

Vehicle Overview

The Bugatti EB110, modified in the chassis that passed from aluminum to carbon, and heavily remodeled by Benedini in the original style proposed by Marcello Gandini, was presented on September 14, 1991 at Place De La Défense in Paris and the following day in Molsheim, where ‘ the original Bugatti workshop had been founded. The presentation date was not accidental: 15 September is the day of Ettore Bugatti’s birth and in 1991 the 110th anniversary fell. This also explains the name of the car: EB 110 GT, which stands for “Ettore Bugatti / 110 years / Gran Turismo”. The car was equipped with state-of-the-art technology and was powered by a powerful V12 engine; in terms of performance it had nothing to envy to contemporary sports cars such as Lamborghini Diablo and Ferrari F40.
