Vehicle Overview

The De Tomaso 2000 Competizione was a unique concept racing car that was built by Carrozzeria Ghia and based on the Vallelunga chassis. This vehicle was unveiled at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in 1966 and subsequently made appearances at other prominent automotive events. Its power was derived from the 1.6-liter four-cylinder Ford 120E engine, which had been modified from the 104-horsepower powertrain utilized in the De Tomaso Vallelunga. The transmission, sourced from Volkswagen, featured Colotti ratios and had four speeds. The suspension system consisted of overlapping triangles and coil springs on all four corners, with struts from Triumph. Initially, the Ghia De Tomaso 2000 Competizione was equipped with 13-inch wheels, but De Tomaso later replaced them with 15-inch wheels, similar to those found on the 2000 Sport model. This vehicle remained in the possession of De Tomaso until 2004, when it was sold to a private buyer and subsequently underwent a comprehensive restoration process.
