De Tomaso Mangusta Spyder
Chassis
The De Tomaso Mangusta Spyder one-off by Ghia.
Vehicle Overview
The De Tomaso Mangusta Spyder: 1966 was the turning point for De Tomaso thanks to the presentation of the legendary Mangusta, designed to contrast the Shelby cars. However, a first preview of the vehicle had taken place the previous year at the Geneva motor show when a Targa variant made by Carrozzeria Ghia had been shown. The basic mechanics was that of the subsequent coupe model, namely a Ford Small Block V8 4.7 16V 302 hp engine, managed by a five-speed manual gearbox and combined with rear wheel drive. Based on an aluminum single girder frame covered with a steel body, the De Tomaso Mangusta Spyder was never mass-produced in this variant.
