Fiat 1200 Cabriolet
In 1959 Fiat replaced the 1200 Trasformabile, with the new Fiat 1200 Cabriolet designed by Pininfarina. Despite the official name being 1200 Cabriolet, the new car was a real 2-seater spyder with a distinctly more sober and clean styling that incorporates the lines of the contemporary Ferrari 250 GTE in some detail.
Vehicle Overview
Fiat used the 1200cc engine for the new 1200 Cabriolet and the car was unveield at the Geneva Motor Show in spring 1959. Despite having the Pininfarina badge, this model was assembled manually in the “Carrozzerie Speciali Officine Lingotto” section of the Torinese house, with methods similar to those of the artisan coachbuilder of the previous years, in a limited series of about 500 units. The Pininfarina badge refers only to the designer.
