Fiat 1500 C Bertone

The 1500 was presented at the Milan Motor Show in 1935. The engine was conceptually a “Balilla” with two extra cylinders to give it a total power of almost 1500 cc. Such scarce power on a 6-cylinder engine was almost a record.

Vehicle Overview

The Bertone coachbuilder stands as a pioneer in infusing personal flair into the Fiat models, a tradition dating back to as early as 1936. During this period, Bertone introduced a series of saloons that not only adorned the new Fiat models but also elevated their aerodynamic profiles to new heights. Among these creations was a notable design conceived by Mario Revelli di Beaumont towards the twilight of the Second World War, brought to life by Bertone in 1945 utilizing a 1941 Fiat 6C 1500 chassis. This remarkable design epitomizes the meticulous research dedicated to crafting novel styles and optimizing aerodynamics. One striking feature of this bespoke creation is the markedly sharper inclination of the windscreen, a departure from conventional designs that lent it a distinctly futuristic appeal. The seamless integration of the front bumpers with the rear ones hinted at an emerging trend in automotive design – the “pontoon” bodyworks. This innovative approach featured a lack of continuity solution from the front to the back, further accentuating the vehicle’s sleek silhouette. The absence of a footboard and the subtly receding lines of the tail contributed to its streamlined aesthetic, embodying the essence of contemporary aerodynamic principles. Noteworthy is the radiator cowling, distinguished by its characteristic central shield flanked by two side whiskers, reminiscent of the iconic front grille of Alfa Romeo models. This distinctive feature not only enhanced the vehicle’s visual appeal but also underscored its lineage, as evidenced by its adaptation onto the larger 6C 2500 chassis, showcasing its versatility and enduring design appeal.
