Vehicle Overview

The Ford Start is not a prototype, not a future production car, just a creative proposal by Pininfarina made of sharp edges surrounding 4.2 meters of 2+2 coupe capable of transforming into a convertible, thanks to the roof that automatically slides into the rear compartment. Some stylistic refinements are striking, such as the windshield that narrows upward from its wide base, the cleanliness of the front end with the three-sector lower air intake, the elusive design of the side glass surfaces, the vertical rear light clusters, and the green/blue resin of the body and roof. Inside, tray-type front seats, exposed spare tire under the rear window, steel trellis frames, dark brown leather with hand-executed stitching, horizontal dashboard with the tachometer dominating the dashboard. The engine is the 2.0 Duratec turbocharged Garrett with 200 maximum horsepower. The Ford Start was unveiled at the 2001 IAA in Frankfurt.
