Peugeot 403 Cabriolet Pininfarina
The Peugeot 403 Cabriolet designed by Pininfarina appeared in August 1956. It will be built in 2,043 copies until the end of 1960.
Vehicle Overview
The more distinctive and more expensive Peugeot 403 Cabriolet had a much smaller diffusion than the sedan or even the Wagon itself. The production cabriolet, as the sedan was also designed by Pininfarina, although the first ten pre-series examples were built by a French coachbuilder, Marcel Portout. These speciments differed in some details from what would be the final version. Mechanically, the only difference was in engine power, which rose from 58 to 60 hp. In terms of equipment, it was more luxurious than the sedan, as the seats were upholstered in leather and the floor mats were carpeted instead of rubber. Many years after it left production, the Peugeot 403 Cabriolet would become a movie star, thanks to its appearance on several occasions in television episodes of the Colombo series.
