The story of Zagato Milano
The 1910s: Aeronautics Ugo Zagato was born in Gavello, near Rovigo, on June 25, 1890. He began his coachbuilding career in 1919 when he…
The Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake: The bespoke project, commissioned by a European client, was designed to “pay homage to Zagato’s artistic, Italian coachbuilding tradition on the canvas of a shooting brake body shape”. Zagato’s shooting brake was revealed at the 2014 Chantilly Arts & Elegance Concours D’Elegance. The one-off Aston Martin is said to feature “cutting-edge” styling cues that “create surprise and fascination with a new shape.”
The Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake is the third model (after the Coupé and the Spider) of the Zagato ‘Centennial’ trilogy, born to celebrate Aston Martin’s hundredth anniversary. The Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake was consigned to a European collector during the International Chantilly Arts & Elegance Concours d’Elegance. Traditionally, the Shooting Brake body identifies – since the 60s – a two-door luxury coupé, with a functional boot in which to carry bulky sports equipment: no need to give up driving a powerful, fast and exclusive GT when going golfing or hunting. Its elegant bodywork embodies the design values of both brands, generating attraction and surprise in the eye of the beholder.
