The Lancia Aurelia B50 Coupé Farina fuoriserie
The Lancia Aurelia B50 Coupé Farina: Take the construction skills of Stabilimenti Farina and a design by “maestro” Giovanni Michelotti and you get this beautiful Lancia Aurelia B50 coupè built in only 5 speciments. At the same time as the B10 sedan hit the market, also “naked” chassis were made available for coachbuilders by Lancia in two slightly different versions: the B50, which we would define “normal”, and the B51, more suitable for hosting heavier bodyworks. The differences were minimal: the B51 had larger tires and a shorter “bridge” ratio. For the rest, the two chassis were identical and mounted the 1.8-liter engine of the B10. Pininfarina, Stabilimenti Farina and Viotti produced respectively Cabriolet, Coupé and Giardinetta (Station Wagon) – in limited editions – which Lancia has included in its official sales list. Cabriolets and Coupes are built on the B50 chassis, while the Viotti Stationwagons were built on the B51. At the end, the Coupés of Stabilimenti Farina were very few, while the production of Cabriolets and Giardinettes reaches more significant quantities: Pininfarina builds just under three hundred cabriolets (265 “normal” and twenty in “special equipment”), while Viotti’s giardinieras are close to fifty (47 or 48 depending on the sources).
The other B50 chassis were used by almost all the other major Italian coachbuilders (Allemano, Balbo, Boneschi, Canta, Ghia and Vignale) to make their respective custom-made models, while the rest B51 not used by Viotti served as a base for sedans of greater size and, apparently, for two giardinettas (one made by Monterosa and the other by an unknown coachbuilder).

This 1950 Lancia Aurelia B50 Coupé is one of the 3 ‘fuoriserie’which Lancia included in its official price lists. Built in only 5 specimens, it is kept by the collector Paolo Milini in “The Box”, a set of structures that also includes a restaurant called Olio.
