Panhard Dyna 750 Cabriolet Allemano

The Panhard Dyna 750 Cabriolet Allemano.

Vehicle Overview

The Panhard Dyna 750 Cabriolet by Carrozzeria Allemano was a limited-production coachbuilt variant of the Panhard Dyna X, presented at the 1951 Salone dell’Automobile di Torino. Constructed on the French manufacturer’s lightweight front-wheel-drive platform, the vehicle was reconfigured by Allemano of Turin to demonstrate the potential for bespoke open-body applications on compact European mechanical foundations. The model combined French mechanical rationality with Italian stylistic interpretation and was executed in extremely small numbers. The chassis employed was derived from the Panhard Dyna X Type 110 or 120, constructed with a tubular steel frame. The powertrain consisted of an air-cooled, horizontally opposed two-cylinder engine mounted at the front. Displacement was 745 cubic centimetres. The engine produced between 32 and 40 horsepower depending on carburation and compression specifications. Power was transmitted through a four-speed manual gearbox to the front wheels. Suspension was independent at all four corners, utilizing trailing arms and torsion bars. Braking was by hydraulic drum units on all wheels. The coachwork constructed by Allemano was composed of lightweight aluminium panels over a modified Dyna chassis. The design followed contemporary aerodynamic principles, with integrated front wings, a narrow bonnet intake, minimal ornamentation, and a folding canvas roof. The passenger compartment accommodated four occupants in a 2+2 arrangement. Proportions were low and compact, and the total weight was reportedly under 600 kilograms. A total of six Panhard Dyna 750 examples were bodied by Allemano between 1951 and 1953, comprising both coupé and cabriolet variants. The cabriolet exhibited at the 1951 Turin Motor Show formed part of this group and was commissioned through Scuderia Ital–France, under the direction of Gastone Crepaldi, Panhard’s importer for Italy. No comprehensive chassis registry has been published. Two cabriolet examples are confirmed to survive; others are unaccounted for. The Panhard Dyna 750 Cabriolet Allemano represents a rare intersection of postwar Italian coachbuilding and lightweight French engineering. Its limited production, low survival rate, and exhibition history contribute to its status as a minor but notable example of early 1950s cross-European automotive collaboration.
