Panhard X86 Berlinetta Allemano
The Panhard X86 Berlinetta by Allemano.
Vehicle Overview
The Panhard X86 Berlinetta by Carrozzeria Allemano is a notable example of Italian craftsmanship applied to French engineering. The import of Panhard vehicles into Italy was facilitated by Milanese entrepreneur Gastone Crepaldi from 1951. Crepaldi, known for managing the Italfrance Milano team, acquired a number of motorized bare chassis from Panhard and commissioned the esteemed Carrozzeria Allemano in Turin to create bespoke bodies for them. Designed by the talented Giovanni Michelotti, the Panhard X86 Berlinetta featured a sleek, drop-shaped body that was assembled from aluminum sheets, showcasing both aerodynamic efficiency and aesthetic elegance. From September 1951 to April 1953, 25 Panhard chassis were delivered to Crepaldi, including 23 of the X86 type and two of the X87 type. Carrozzeria Allemano then transformed these chassis into either barchetta or berlinetta styles, enhancing their appeal and performance. The Panhard X86 Berlinetta remains a testament to the collaboration between Italian design and French engineering, highlighting the innovative spirit of the early 1950s automotive industry. The combination of Michelotti’s design prowess and Allemano’s craftsmanship resulted in a vehicle that was both beautiful and functional, making it a prized model among collectors and enthusiasts.
