Pininfarina 90 anni / 90 years: the official book
The volume describes over 600 models that, from 1930 to today, have dictated the history of the motor car and spread Italian style around…
This beautifully restored Alfa Romeo was first presented at the 1937 Salone dell’Automobile in Milan and is believed to be unique with its elegantly streamlined berlinetta coachwork by Pinin Farina, which combines Art Deco elements with a sleek and aerodynamic profile, incorporating a small fin at the rear. Its history after the cessation of hostilities is quite remarkable, as it is believed to have been campaigned in the 1949 edition of the ‘Coppa delle Dolomiti’ and Bolzano-Mendola hill climb before being transformed in a pickup truck in 1954. At this time the original engine was replaced with an Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 single-carburettor unit, converted to run on methane gas! Luckily though, the forward part of the original body had been retained together with the rear wings, which were still on the car when it was rediscovered in 1992.
