The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 GT Cabriolet by Touring.

Vehicle Overview

The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 GT Cabriolet by Touring made its debut in 1949 under the craftsmanship of Carrozzeria Touring from Milan. It emerged as a distinguished member of the 6C 2500 series, following the immediate success of its coupé counterpart, the Villa d’Este. Built on the robust 6C 2500 Super Sport chassis, renowned for its sporting pedigree, the Villa d’Este coupé set a high standard in automotive elegance. Derived from this celebrated coupé, Touring crafted an open-top variant on the 2500 GT chassis, featuring the potent Super Sport engine on an extended Sport chassis. This configuration not only emphasized performance but also offered a sophisticated blend of design and engineering prowess. Production of the cabriolet version was limited, resulting in only a few units being produced, with just a pair known to exist today. One such specimen, chassis 918.089, was discovered in South America and later earned acclaim by winning the prestigious Coppa d’Oro at the 2001 Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance. Subsequent to its accolade, chassis 918.089 underwent an extensive restoration that meticulously returned it to its original specifications, including its distinctive two-tone paint scheme of silver gray and night blue. This restoration effort preserved not only the car’s historical authenticity but also its aesthetic allure, highlighting Touring’s meticulous attention to detail. Today, this exceptional Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 GT Cabriolet by Touring holds a place of honor in the esteemed Lopresto Collection. It stands as a testament to Italian automotive craftsmanship, embodying a rare blend of performance, elegance, and historical significance that continues to captivate automotive enthusiasts worldwide.
