Vehicle Overview
1932 brought new developments into the Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 car and just one year after the start of production we can already speak of a “second series”. Power went up to 165 hp at 5400 rpm on all versions by increasing the compression ratio to 6.5: 1, the capacity of the oil tank was reduced and the brakes and suspension were improved.
The spring of 1932 continued to bring important victories to the Biscione: in April Mario Umberto “Baconin” Borzacchini, paired with Amedeo Bignami, on an 8C 2300 Corto Spider Touring, won the first Mille Miglia of the 8 total won by the 8-cylinder Alfa Romeo, in May Tazio Nuvolari wins his second Targa Florio and in June in the 24 Hours of Le Mans Raymond Sommer and Luigi Chinetti climbed to the top step of the podium followed by Franco Cortese and Giovan Battista Guidotti. The double win increases the fame of these cars even beyond the Alps.
