Vehicle Overview

The Spider was presented together with the Alfa GTV in the autumn of 1994 at the Paris Motor Show. The model is basically the two-seater roadster version (instead of being a 2 + 2) of the GTV created by Enrico Fumia for the Pininfarina style center (based on the 1991 Alfa Romeo Proteo concept). From the GTV, the spider differs in the completely redesigned tail compared to the GTV which has a split trunk lid with double opening to contain the multilayer canvas top. The rear fenders although they have the same ribs as the coupe model have a different arrangement with the trunk lid. The total length of the Spider is 4,285 mm and 4,295 mm for the restyled versions produced since 2003. The front shows the classic shield with the house logo unchanged, while the triangular-shaped bonnet incorporates the split headlights. The trunk has a volume of 110 liters while the tank holds up to 70 liters of fuel. The engines made available in the various years of marketing were the 1.8 Twin Spark, 2.0 Twin Spark, 2.0 JTS, 3.0 V6 12v (Spider only), 2.0 V6 Turbo, 3.0 V6 24v, 3.2 V6 24v. The powers are between 144 and 240 horses.
