The Changfeng Liebao CS6 is a mid-size sport utility vehicle developed by the Chinese automaker Changfeng Motor in collaboration with the renowned Italian design house Pininfarina. Unveiled at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the CS6 signified an ambitious attempt by Changfeng to enter the global automotive market with a product that combined European design sensibilities and Chinese engineering. The CS6 is built on a traditional body-on-frame architecture, offering durability and off-road capability typical of rugged SUVs. Measuring approximately 196 inches in length, 73.6 inches in width, and 74.4 inches in height, it features a wheelbase of 107.3 inches, providing ample space for five occupants. Under the hood, the vehicle was available with two engine options: a 2.4-liter gasoline engine producing 92 kilowatts and a 2.5-liter diesel engine generating 105 kilowatts, both coupled to manual transmissions. Four-wheel drive was optional, and the SUV was engineered with a wading depth of 500 millimeters, enhancing its versatility in challenging terrain. The design, influenced by Pininfarina, is marked by a prominent front grille, bold body contours, and a refined silhouette. The interior featured standard equipment such as power windows, air conditioning, and a DVD entertainment system with a 6.5-inch screen in higher trim levels. Safety features included an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution and rear parking sensors. However, the vehicle lacked side and curtain airbags in its Chinese-market configurations. Although showcased internationally, including in Detroit, Changfeng made no definitive announcement regarding plans to enter the North American market. The CS6 remained primarily targeted at domestic and regional buyers, reflecting the company’s cautious approach to global expansion.
