The Ferrari 195 Inter Ghia chassis 0113S.

Vehicle Overview

Chassis number 0113S is a Ferrari 195 Inter Coupe bodied by Carrozzeria Ghia and completed on December 11, 1950. This example was configured in right-hand drive and originally finished in white. It was fitted with a triple-carburetor setup, marking it as a higher-performance iteration of Ferrari’s early grand touring model. The 195 Inter was derived from Ferrari’s 166 platform and was positioned as a refined road car for elite clientele, often tailored by prominent Italian coachbuilders. The first recorded owner of 0113S was WI.PU.CO. Srl., operated by Franco Cornacchia in Milan, Italy. By June 1951, the vehicle had changed hands to Alfonso Scimé, who acquired it for 2,500,000 Italian lire. Sometime during the 1950s, the car underwent substantial cosmetic alterations, affecting both the front and rear bodywork. These modifications may have reflected evolving aesthetic preferences or practical repair needs. In 1959, the car passed through the hands of Milanese dealer Michele Vernola before being exported to Los Angeles, California, signifying its entry into the American collector sphere. During the early 1960s, it was acquired by Lawrence A. Knaack of Long Grove, Illinois, who refinished the vehicle in metallic grey. It was subsequently sold in the late 1960s to Robert W. Johnson of Palatine, Illinois. By January 1976, Johnson offered the car for sale for $10,500, having accrued 40,000 kilometers. Later that year, the car was disassembled for restoration. This process was completed in 1986, returning the vehicle to operational condition after a prolonged period of dormancy. The car reemerged at auction on October 26, 2011, at RM’s Automobiles of London sale, where it sold for £280,000 including buyer’s premium. It was later exhibited during the debut of the Ferrari F12 berlinetta in Hong Kong in 2012. On May 10, 2018, 0113S was sold again at RM Sotheby’s Monaco auction for €590,000. By June 2019, the vehicle was undergoing restoration at Barkaways, a specialist Ferrari restoration firm in the UK. The restoration was nearing completion in July 2021, in time for its presentation at the Salon Privé Concours on September 2, 2021. This example remains a significant and rare survivor among the early Ferrari road cars, bearing both the mechanical pedigree of the marque and the distinctive styling of Ghia.
