Vehicle Overview
The Ferrari 458 Spider was unveiled in September 2011 in Maranello, a few days before the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. It is the open version of the 458 Italia. It entered the stage, in two different colors, with Formula 1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa at the wheel. The roof mechanism is unprecedented: this is in fact operated by a mechanism that combines the retractable movement with the rotary one to improve the folding speed and the structural properties, without altering performance both when closed and during opening/closing. It was designed in collaboration with Pininfarina.
