Ferrari 735 S Spider

The Ferrari 735 S Spider by Carrozzeria Autodromo.

Vehicle Overview

The Ferrari 735 S Spider, was a racing car that Ferrari built in 1953 and that the Scuderia used in sports car races that same year. The Ferrari 735S followed the four-cylinder strategy that had already been started with the Ferrari 625TF in Maranello. All three Spiders got the same body from Ferrari in 1953, which – a rare exception at the time – Ferrari developed itself. The development time of the project was very short after Aurelio Lampredi himself had submitted the design for the vehicle. The bodies were manufactured at least partially at the Carrozzeria Autodromo Modena. The inline four-cylinder was improved and made 225 hp at 2941 cc. The engine had significantly better torque than the four-cylinder unit in the 625TF.
