The Fiat 1100 Cabriolet Derby, a 2-seater cabriolet based on an “1100 E” chassis marked a significant stage in the history of the Bertone coachworks. Since heavy demand for this succesful model induced Bertone to increase the staff of the family firm to 150 people; nevertheless the works was not yet a fully industrialized production unit eve thought the basic set-up was already organized to handle the production of a smal series, an inheritance from the Thirties and projects like the “Balilla della Signora” and the Lancia Artena.
