In 1941, Carrozzeria Touring, in collaboration with Officine Meccaniche Stigler, embarked on a unique project: the creation of two Coupé cars on the FIAT 1100 chassis, featuring electric drive. These innovative vehicles, equipped with Superleggera bodies, represented a pioneering venture into electric propulsion during a time of self-sufficiency. Notably, Officine Meccaniche Stigler specialized in the lift sector, providing electric motors for various applications. The design of this Fiat 1100 Stigler was striking, with the front end bearing a resemblance to the Volkswagen Beetle, a testament to the era’s design influences. One of the two cars was commissioned by Franco Mazzotti, an industrialist from Brescia. Mazzotti, known for his role as one of the founders of the Mille Miglia, was also a skilled pilot in the Regia Aeronautica Militare. Tragically, Mazzotti’s life was cut short in an air combat, adding a poignant layer of history to these remarkable vehicles.
