Fiat 1100 TV Coupé Pininfarina

The Fiat 1100 TV Pininfarina first series.

Vehicle Overview

The Fiat 1100 TV Pininfarina became an icon of elegance and innovation in the early 1950s, embodying the spirit of the emerging middle class during Italy’s economic boom. Introduced as a refined and sporty version of the Fiat 1100, it quickly attracted the attention of major coachbuilders. One of the most distinguished versions was crafted by Pininfarina, presented at the 1953 Paris Motor Show. This coupe, characterized by its balanced and elegant design, featured a light blue livery, a typical color of the era, and quickly became a symbol of style and sophistication. In 1954, the Fiat 1100 TV Pininfarina coupe made its debut at the 36th Turin Auto Show. Among the few fortunate owners was the young Umberto Agnelli, who achieved notable successes in competitions with the car. Luciano Ciolfi, however, became the most celebrated driver of the model, participating in prestigious races like the Circuit of Orbassano, the Mille Miglia, and the 14th Giro di Sicilia, where he triumphed against a Fiat 1100 Zagato. The car also excelled in elegance competitions, thanks to its refined lines, high-quality materials, and meticulous craftsmanship, blending features from prestigious Alfa Romeo and Lancia models. A particularly rare intermediate series of just 10 units was produced, featuring a panoramic rear window inspired by the Alfa 1900 C and Ferrari 250 GT Boano/Ellena. This aesthetic enhancement added a sleek touch to the rear, making the coupe even more distinguished. In total, 126 units were hand-assembled between 1953 and 1957. One of these rare intermediate models was discovered by a Milanese collector, who meticulously restored it, preserving its timeless charm. The Fiat 1100 TV Pininfarina stood out not only for its elegant appearance but also for its spirited performance. Powered by a 1089 cc four-cylinder engine, it delivered 50 horsepower at 5400 rpm, reaching speeds of 150-155 km/h. The interior, designed to maximize comfort within compact dimensions, featured a front bench seat with a foldable armrest and an elegant rear seat accessible by tilting the front backrest. Chrome accents and meticulous interior details emphasized its sophisticated yet bold character. Restored to its former glory, the Fiat 1100 TV Pininfarina continues to captivate with its blend of elegance, innovation, and spirited performance.
