Fiat 1300 Giardinetta Viotti
The Fiat 1300 Giardinetta Viotti was unveiled in 1961 at the Turin Auto Show, was developed by the Viotti coachbuilder, which for years had been dealing with those family cars that would later be identified with the name of stationwagons. Vittorio Viotti, the founder of the company, was the first, immediately after the end of the Second World War, to coin the term Giardinetta to identify models designed for everyday use by more or less numerous families.
Vehicle Overview
The Fiat 1300 Giardinetta Viotti (among the 1500 version) represented the swan song of Carrozzeria Viotti, which, after Vittorio’s death, had passed into the hands of his cousin Francesco. With the decline of custom-built cars, Viotti closed its doors in 1964. The 1300 and 1500 Giardinetta did not have the hoped-for success: unveiled at the 1961 Turin Auto Salon, only 50 speciments were produced. This is because Fiat in parallel had developed and marketed its own family version from the sedans, at a much lower price. The price of the Fiat 1300 Giardinetta Viotti at the time? 1,380,000 lire, approximately 18,000 euros today.
