In 1950, at the request of a delegation of Fiat dealers led by Ovidio Capelli, Touring built a small series of 200 berlinettas based on the Fiat 1400, the new medium-sized vehicle with a supporting body from Fiat.
Vehicle Overview
The Fiat 1400 Touring was the first attempt to adapt the Superleggera structure to a mass production chassis made by Fiat. In the factory in Via Ludovico da Breme, the Fiat 1400s are transformed into a two-door four-seater berlinette in the style of the coachbuilder, with a large grille, modified several times, and a tail similar to that of the 6C 2500 SS Villa d’Este. Of these 200 cars, at least 3 are further lightened and enhanced with an Abarth kit and with one of these Ovidio Capelli himself triumphs at the XI Giro di Sicilia 1951.
