Fiat 1600 S Coupé Pininfarina

Pininfarina not only designed the Fiat 1200 cabriolet, but also a very elegant Coupe based on the convertible. The beautiful Pininfarina design had many similarities with other Pininfarina designs such as the Ferrari’s 250 GT Spyder and Peugeot 404 Coupes/Cabriolet.

Vehicle Overview

The Coupè was proposed with the 1200 engine, as well as with the OSCA engine. The coupes differed optically from the convertible (besides the fixed roof) by a one piece grille. The price of the Pininfarina coupe was 25% higher than the same motorized Fiat Cabrio. Initially, Pininfarina sold the Coupe itself, but also through a Fiat dealer or Fiat sales organizations. In 1961 the coupe were included in the official Fiat sales program. In 1963 Fiat replaced the 1200 Cabriolet. The Fiat 1500 Cabriolet was introduced at the Geneva show.

The 1500 Cabrio was built on the basis of the new Fiat 1300 / 1500 sport sedan. The main differences from the predecessor were more performance, a different grill and disc brakes. The Fiat 1600 convertible with the OSCA engine received a different grill in addition to the modifications to the powertrain. With its twin headlights, it was easy to distinguish. Pininfarina built the corresponding 1500 and 1600 S coupes.
