This Fiat 500 Spiaggina Boano is one of the most important, significant, created by Carrozzeria Boano at the specific request of l’avvocato Gianni Agnelli.
The Fiat 500 Spiaggina Boano was based on the small Fiat 500, a very popular car at the time, for the Spiaggina modifications the coachbuilders never used big luxury cars. The Spiaggina was used only on special occasions, for very short trips, and always with illustrious passengers. The Fiat 500 Spiaggina by Carrozzeria Boano is most likely the one that appeared in several magazines of the same period. The small Fiat was also profoundly modified in the chassis, not only in aesthetics, lengthened for greater roominess. The guests still had to be comfortable even when they would have made very little road. Two speciments were built, the second one which belonged to Onassis was destroyed.
The birth of the Spiaggina (Spiaggia = Beach) takes place in the immediate post-war period at the initiative of some Italian coachbuilders which transformed small mass production cars in order to make them suitable for the needs of wealthy customers during the holiday period in the seaside resorts.
