Fiat 500 Topolino Bertone
The Fiat Topolino Bertone.
Vehicle Overview
The Fiat Topolino Bertone: Introduced in 1936, thè Fiat 500 was the world’s smallest mass produced car and one that the Italians baptised Topolino almost immediately. The car was developed from a simple project by Dante Giacosa, who conceived a small four-cylinder 569 cc (bore and strofe 52×67 mm) engine that generated 13 hp at 4000 rpm and propelled the car to a maximum speed of 85 km/h. The chassis was of longitudinal members (wheelbase two metres) and the engine group overhung the front axle. Some carrozzieri elaborated the car’s line, building cabriolets in particular, but Bertone worked mainly on the front end, introducing a radiator grill to the Fiat Topolino Bertone nose.
