The Fiat 508 C Balilla Cabriolet Bertone: In 1937, Fiat launched the 508C, which was a/so called the Balilla 1100, and it was a car that remained popular in Italy for over 15 years. The cubic capacity of the Balilla’s overhead valve 995 cc engine was increased lo 1 089 cc (bore and stroke 68×75 mm) and maximum power went up to 32 hp at 4000 rpm; among the other technical and constructional innovations were independent front suspension and a generous lengthening of the wheelbase, which increased from 2300 to 2420 mm. The carrozzieri concentrated themselves on the 1100 chassis and that led to a whole generation of cabriolets. At times, Bertone followed the stylistic trend of the production Fiat saloon, but also built a two-seater cabriolet of new line and with sporting connotations. With a weight of over 900 kg, the special bodied car could almost reach 71 km/h, but numerous modifications available from the tuners could increase its power output to 42 hp and its top speed to 130 km/h.
