Ford 021C
Designed by Marc Newson, one of the “enfant terrible” of industrial design and entrusted to Ghia for the construction of the prototype, the 021C is a cultural icon of the automobile concept. Its elementary shape is a container of proposals in terms of ergonomics and the use of new materials, mediated by the world of furniture.
Vehicle Overview
The Ford 021C was a concept car first presented by Ford to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 1999. It was designed by Marc Newson and built by Ghia. The car’s name was taken from the Pantone orange color, considered Newson’s favorite, although it was repainted lime green when it was shown at the 2000 Salone del Mobile in Milan. The car was also named after the Ford Motor Company. Ford officials said that 021C also stands for 21st century. It was only produced as a styling exercise and was not intended for production
