Vehicle Overview

The JAC A137, also known as the JAC J3 or Tongyue RS, is a compact hatchback developed by Chinese automaker JAC Motors in collaboration with the renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina. This partnership began in 2005, aiming to create a new family of compact cars that combined European design aesthetics with Chinese manufacturing capabilities. Unveiled at the 2008 Auto China show in Beijing, the JAC A137 showcased a sporty and elegant design, featuring a distinctive front grille and headlamp configuration. The vehicle was built on a new front-wheel-drive chassis with a transverse engine layout. JAC entered into an agreement with Mitsubishi Motors to supply a 1.3-liter 16-valve four-cylinder engine, known for its reliability and efficiency. The A137’s dimensions include a length of 3,965 mm, a width of 1,650 mm, and a height of 1,445 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm. It offers seating for five passengers and a luggage capacity of 339 liters. The vehicle’s curb weight is approximately 1,010 kg. Performance-wise, it can reach a top speed of 160 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 16 seconds. The A137 was part of JAC’s strategy to penetrate both domestic and international markets with a competitively priced, stylish, and fuel-efficient vehicle. Its design and engineering reflected a blend of Italian styling and Chinese practicality, aiming to appeal to a broad range of consumers seeking affordable yet sophisticated transportation options.
