The Lamborghini Miura SVJ.

Vehicle Overview

The Lamborghini Miura SVJ stands as a rare and coveted gem in the realm of automotive history, with only a handful of specimens known to exist. Designed by Bertone, among these, six were officially built by the factory during the production period of the Miura, while one additional car, chassis #4892, recently surfaced with factory documentation, solidifying its authenticity. One of the most renowned Miura SVJs, chassis #4934, holds a fascinating story. Originally commissioned for the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, it was stored under tight security alongside another SV in the Royal Palace in Tehran. Following the Shah’s departure during the Iranian Revolution, his prized automobiles, including the SV/J, were confiscated by the Iranian government. In 1995, the SV/J made its way to Dubai before being auctioned at Brooks in 1997, fetching an impressive $490,000, the highest-ever price for a Miura at the time. Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage acquired the car at the auction but later sold it in 2002. The allure of the Miura SVJ continued to captivate enthusiasts, with prices soaring over the years. SVJ #4892, recently authenticated with factory documentation, fetched over $1.9 million, reaffirming its status as a highly sought-after collector’s item. In addition to the seven original SVJs, an eighth was crafted at the Lamborghini factory between 1983 and 1987, commissioned by Jean Claude Mimran, one of the Mimran brothers, then owners of Lamborghini. However, its status as an “official” SVJ remains debated among experts due to its conversion from an unused Miura S chassis long after the Miura ceased production. Despite the debate surrounding the factory’s involvement in post-production conversions, several Miuras have undergone upgrades to SVJ specifications by various garages worldwide, attempting to emulate the authenticity and prestige of the genuine factory-built SVJs. The Lamborghini Miura SVJ’s legacy endures as a symbol of automotive excellence and rarity, captivating collectors and enthusiasts alike with its timeless design and storied history. As one of the most sought-after Lamborghinis ever produced, its mystique and allure continue to fascinate generations of automotive aficionados.
