A turning point in the history of Pinin Farina-created bodies was the design of an aerodynamic vehicle presented in 1936.
The Lancia Aprilia Aerodinamica Pininfarina: The fruit of sheer intuition, this model on a Lancia Aprilia chassis-floor had as its basic concepts the integration of side panels and mudguards, the sharply tapering, stretched out roof panel like a drop of water” was the expression used at the time) and the curved, two-part windscreen made of plexiglas, as were the side and rear windows. Finally, were eliminated the front wheel housing covers and the second rear window, and corrected the line of the roof panel.
The MAUTO – Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile di Torino today inaugurates the exhibition “La Forma del Futuro” (The Shape of the Future), an extraordinary exhibition that, with the contribution of 16 exceptional cars, narrates Pininfarina’s innate ability to envisage the future and give it form by staying ahead of the times and setting trends.
