The Lancia B20 design story
At the Turin Motor Show in 1951, Lancia displayed to the public for the first time the B20, a stunning high-performance coupe with attractive “clean” lines.
Three Lancia Aurelia B20 were made by the Milanese coachbuilder Zagato.
The Lancia Aurelia B20 Zagato, built in 3 speciments – with a line very similar to that of the Fiat 8V Zagato – were built on the mechanics of the B20 third series and are certainly intended for competitive use, even if there is no direct involvement of the mother company in this project. The first B20 Zagato was completed in May 1953, was registered in the name of the Bocca di Biella company with the number plate VC 30694 and was then used in racing by the pilot Plinio Bona. The second B20 Zagato was completed in June and registered (TO 148904) in the name of Gianni Lancia’s brother-in-law, Ferdinando Gatta, who will use as pure racing car, piloting. The third and last of the Lancia Aurelia B20 Zagato was completed in July and registered (FI 65868) in the name of Arturo Luconi of Prato.
