The Lancia Dilambda Pininfarina: In the first half of the thirties, the classic Lancia Dilambda 8-cylinder model was one of the best suited for a special body and Pinin Farina devoted himself to the task with particular fervour. There is nothing sporting about the theme here. We are in the field of big de luxe saloons which inevitably put a damper on the bodybuilder’s imagination. The only concession to Pinin’s by now deep-rooted idea is the sloping radiator grill (standard, like the cowled framework round the lights, reminiscent of the Lancia trade-mark). The roof line looks more modern, however, and two transparent, blue-tinted elements for improving interior lighting can be seen. In this photograph, the numbered card hanging from the grille is the mark of the Villa d’Este Elegance Competition where the Lancia Dilambda Pininfarina obtained the Grand Prix of honour.
