Vehicle Overview
The Opel FILO drive-by-wire technology, developed jointly with SKF, has made it possible to radically rethink the man-car interface and the car’s interior architecture. No more pedals, therefore: steering, accelerator, brakes, gearbox and clutch are all controlled by wire. And inside, STILE BERTONE has created living space unhampered by the usual restrictions to freedom of position and movement. The Opel Filo Bertone is much more than an innovative prototype. FILO is a philosophy, a quest for a new form of expression, a nerve network leading to a different type of visual, tactile and acoustic contact that improves quality of life on board. Mechatronics, namely the use of an intelligent electronic control unit to manage a series of mechanical devices, is the heart of the FILO. And thanks to this technology designers have been able to redefine the interior environment and radically rethink how users interact with their car and the external environment. The Opel Filo Bertone is a vision of the future. And not even the distant future, given that it represents a preview of what may well be available in next-generation cars. FILO is not just an exercise in design, it’s a concrete proposal to consider cars in an organic way, like a dynamic system that interacts with people and their environment.
