Pininfarina Bluecar

The Pininfarina Bluecar is an electric car proposal made by the Italian car manufacturer Pininfarina and presented to the public first with a concept at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008 and then with a definitive prototype at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009.

Vehicle Overview

The Pininfarina Bluecar is an electric car resulting from a joint venture developed with Bollorè, a company directed by Vincent Bolloré, manufacturer of electric accumulators. The car, in fact, is powered by lithium polymer batteries called Lithium Métal Polymère (LMP) plus super-capacitors (which recovers and stores the braking energy, and then makes it available when the vehicle restarts), with an overall power of 50 kW and about 250 km of autonomy, this power supply allows the Pininfarina Bluecar to reach a self-limited top speed of 130 km / h, with 0-60 km / h acceleration in 6.3 seconds or about 8 seconds from 0– In fact, 100 km / h acceleration performance is equivalent to that of vehicles with internal combustion engine of the same segment (B / C). Pininfarina also declares that the Bluecar is capable of operating at extreme temperatures ranging from -20 ° to + 60 ° and declares a minimum life of lithium polymer batteries is at least 200,000 km. The batteries require charging times of 5 hours for a full charge, and the possibility of a quick charge of 5 minutes to have 25 km of autonomy. In addition, the solar cells on the hood contribute to the power supply of the electrical equipment. The batteries do not require any maintenance, in addition to having a lifespan of about 200,000 km, they provide unparalleled safety since the battery housing, under the floor and between the two axles, also allows, thanks to the low center of gravity, a seal of the uncommon car. In addition, the electric car emits no gas, no fine particles and no noise: LMP batteries therefore allow you to effectively fight against air pollution. In terms of safety, the position of the battery, located inside the floor, responds to precise criteria of dynamic and passive safety. The battery is in a position protected from possible impacts. Consistent with an environmentally responsible global approach given the type of car, all the materials used for the construction, the battery and interior materials have been carefully chosen for their low environmental impact and are recyclable or reusable.
