The VinFast LUX SA2.0 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV that marks a significant milestone for the Vietnamese automaker VinFast, symbolizing the country’s bold entry into the global automotive market. Produced from 2019 to 2022, the LUX SA2.0 is a 5+2-seater vehicle built on the F15 BMW X5 platform, showcasing VinFast’s collaboration with renowned global partners to create a vehicle that blends luxury, performance, and modern design. Designed by the esteemed Italian design firm Pininfarina, the LUX SA2.0 features sleek and sophisticated lines that reflect both elegance and strength. Its design language is characterized by a bold front grille, sharp LED headlights, and a dynamic silhouette that appeals to those seeking a premium aesthetic in their SUV. The vehicle was unveiled to the world at the 2018 Paris Motor Show alongside its sibling, the VinFast LUX A2.0 sedan, marking VinFast’s global debut. Production of the LUX SA2.0 began with a pilot run in March 2019, followed by full-scale production in September 2019 at VinFast’s state-of-the-art factory in Haiphong, Vietnam. This facility underscores the brand’s commitment to high-quality manufacturing, with advanced technology and stringent quality control measures ensuring the LUX SA2.0 meets international standards. Under the hood, the VinFast LUX SA2.0 is powered by a 2.0-liter BMW N20B20 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, offering a balance of power and efficiency. This engine is paired with an 8-speed ZF 8HP automatic transmission, delivering smooth shifts and responsive performance, which is essential for a luxury SUV. The drivetrain was carefully selected to provide a driving experience that aligns with the expectations of luxury SUV buyers, blending comfort with dynamic handling. Originally priced at VND 1.415 billion (approximately US$61,552), the price was later adjusted to VND 2 billion (about US$86,956), reflecting its position as a premium offering in the market. Despite its relatively short production run, the VinFast LUX SA2.0 has made a lasting impression as Vietnam’s first luxury SUV, showcasing the capabilities of the nation’s burgeoning automotive industry on the global stage.
