Volvo 780 Bertone

The Volvo 780, an elegant, top of the range model, was produced by the Swedish manufacturer in 1985. The 780 project, however, really began in 1981 from a Volvo idea, which Bertone reworked to create a more sporty feel. The final version was a combination of the two designs: a sporty Bertone concept with a Volvo-style family dimension.

Vehicle Overview

Designed by Bertone, the Volvo 780 was destined for the US market, as its styling shows: imposing size, classic lines and wide headlamps. The Volvo 780 marked another stage in the productive growth of Bertone: the production of a model not entirely designed by the company. Four engine sizes were fitted: three petrol engines at 2000, 2300 and 2800 cc. and a 2400 cc. Diesel. From 1985 to 1991 the Grugliasco factory manufactured over 9,000 units, which were shipped to the five continents.
