Michelotti Pura
The Michelotti Pura was an underrated road going race car.
Vehicle Overview
The Michelotti Pura was designed and built as a two-seat road going race car with styling by Edgardo Michelotti and Tateo Uchida and displayed at the Turin Auto Show in 1988. The body is made of fibreglass with a full sliding glass canopy with a carbon fibre and aluminium monocoque, incorporating steel sub frames with a mid-mounted Alfa Romeo 4-cyl (155hp) 1800cc turbocharged engine and a ZF 5-speed transmission. The Michelotti Pura prototype exists as a one-off and included many advanced aerodynamic engineering details that predate the Lotus Elise or Renault Spider and the McLaren’s use of carbon fibre composite in 1992.
