In the early 1960s, after the successful release of the BMW “Neue Klasse”, the project for the Coupé 1500 version was started.

The BMW 1500 Coupé Michelotti: Drawings and prototype were made by Michelotti, unfortunately in vain, as the management of the Munich manufacturer decided not to include the model in its range. It was a very elegant and slender Coupe, with a typically BMW arrow front and a very prominent tail. It was powered by the 1800 engine
