The Ferrari 360 Modena Barchetta is a unique one-off model with a fascinating backstory, commissioned by the prominent Italian industrialist Gianni Agnelli. This special edition was conceived as a gift for Luca Cordero di Montezemolo on the occasion of his second marriage at the age of 52. The story goes that in May, just before Montezemolo’s wedding, he received a precious silver tray from Agnelli. Upon thanking Agnelli’s family, Montezemolo was informed by “l’avvocato” that the tray was a gift from his wife, and that Agnelli’s gift was waiting for him at the Fiat dealership in Bologna. The 360 Modena Barchetta began life as an ordinary Ferrari 360 Spider, specifically chassis 120020. At a significant cost—reportedly around 200 million old Lire—the car was transformed into a bespoke barchetta. This transformation involved removing the Spider’s conventional roof and fitting it with a distinctive wrap-around windshield that gave it a more streamlined, open-air aesthetic. The design and construction of this one-off model were handled by Pininfarina, renowned for its expertise in crafting Ferrari’s most exclusive vehicles. The Barchetta features a refined and elegant Hermes interior, which adds an extra touch of luxury to the already exclusive nature of the car. The bodywork was meticulously crafted to reflect the sophisticated styling typical of Ferrari’s collaboration with Pininfarina.
