In 2005, Kalikow approached Pininfarina with a unique vision for a custom-made vehicle. Paolo Garella, representing Pininfarina, journeyed to New York to meet Kalikow in person. During their discussions, Kalikow articulated his desire for a car that would subtly diverge from the standard 612 Scaglietti, yet remain unmistakably Ferrari to the discerning eye of only a select few enthusiasts. Kalikow’s active involvement in the project’s development was instrumental in shaping the Ferrari 612 Kappa. Seven months after the project’s inception, the world witnessed the grand reveal of the 612 Kappa at the prestigious Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance in 2006. While the core design elements of the 612 Scaglietti were retained, the Ferrari 612 Kappa featured a myriad of bespoke details inspired by Kalikow’s personal collection of classic Ferraris.
