The Fiat 2300 Moretti, unveiled by Moretti in 1962 at the Geneva Motor Show, represented the coupé version of the 2300 Cabriolet, both based on Fiat chassis. Giovanni Michelotti, renowned for his automotive designs, including Ferraris and other notable cars, crafted its sleek profile. Notably, it adopted the shark-like front design reminiscent of Ferrari’s Formula 1 cars and the Ferrari 250 GT Bertone, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Powered by Fiat’s 6-cylinder engine, Moretti enhanced its performance. Notably, all four tires were equipped with disc brakes, a feature uncommon at the time. The coupe boasted several innovative features: adjustable side deflectors, rear side windows, and reclining, wraparound front seats. Additionally, it featured Borrani wire wheels, with an optional upgrade to natural leather interiors and electric windows. The base model was priced at 2,700,000 Lire, equivalent to approximately €32,000 today. Moretti also offered a more powerful 2500 cc version priced around €37,000. This version not only boasted more power but also featured distinct design elements such as a different C-pillar. It outsold its lower-powered counterpart significantly, thanks to its enhanced performance and aesthetic appeal. The Fiat 2300 Moretti’s claimed top speed exceeded 200 km/h, marking it as a formidable high-speed performer of its era. Its combination of stylish design, advanced features, and robust performance contributed to its appeal among automotive enthusiasts and collectors, securing its place in automotive history as a significant model in the Moretti lineup.
