Fiat 750 Coupé Moretti

The Fiat 750 Coupé Moretti designed by Michelotti.

Vehicle Overview

The Fiat 750 Coupé Moretti, introduced in 1961, is a striking example of Italian automotive craftsmanship. Based on the Fiat 600 D, the 750 Coupé was designed by the renowned Giovanni Michelotti, who managed to create two distinct versions—one for Moretti and another for Vignale. Despite sharing some common components like the rear windows to reduce production costs, each version was unique and easily recognizable. Moretti expanded the 750 line to include a berlinetta and a spider, the latter of which could be equipped with a hardtop. Over its production run, which saw around fifty units made, two series of the 750 Moretti were produced. Starting in 1963, the model featured a faux aluminum grille on the nose, adding a touch of modernity to its classic design. Built on Fiat 600 mechanicals, these exceptionally elegant cars were more than just visually appealing. The 750 Coupé boasted a tuned engine that produced 41 bhp—12 horsepower more than the standard Fiat 600. This enhancement provided a spirited driving experience that complemented the car’s sophisticated exterior. The interior of the Fiat 750 Coupé Moretti also reflected its high-end aspirations. The cabin featured attractive Jaeger instruments and plush dark red upholstery, which contrasted beautifully with the grey exterior. These refined touches belied the car’s humble origins, transforming it into a symbol of luxury and style. The 750 Coupé Moretti stands as a testament to the ingenuity and elegance of 1960s Italian automotive design. It encapsulates the era’s blend of form and function, making it a beloved classic among enthusiasts and collectors.
