Bertone presents the Fiat Barchetta concept car in celebration of its 95th anniversary. The Barchetta is based on the floorpan and mechanicals of the Fiat Panda 100 HP. Bertone’s choice of the Fiat brand to celebrate its 95th anniversary was a natural choice, because of the historical relationship between the two companies which has lasted for more than eighty years and has generated more than fifty highly successful models among concept cars, one-offs and production cars, from the 850 Spider to the X1/9, from the Ritmo Cabrio to the Punto Cabrio.
The Fiat Barchetta Bertone was unveiled in 2007 by Bertone at the Geneva Motor Show and exhibited at the 2007 Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza. It was a concept car for a possible second generation of the Fiat Barchetta. Built it to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the company, the Bertone Barchetta was based on the Fiat Panda chassis and featured an aluminum body divided into two sections connected to each other by the glass surface of the doors. The interior was made of leather, and the rear luggage compartment cover was made of the same material. The lighting system used LED technology. The concept car has no combustion engine and is only powered by an electric motor (taken from a forklift) that has the function of moving it and to activate the doors and lights. It is currently displayed in the Volandia Museum near the Malpensa Airtport in Italy.
