The Foxtron Model E by Pininfarina was unveiled during the Hon Hai Tech Day 2021 event (HHTD21) underlining Hon Hai’s commitment to become a next generation global automotive manufacturer. This luxury sedan currently exists as a concept car, showcasing extremely fluid volumes and intelligent surfaces highlighted by LED lights that flow from the front headlights to the sides of the vehicle. Inside, the Model E features cutting-edge technology, starting with a Face Recognition Entry System, similar to what is used in smartphones. The interior boasts classic lines, fluid architecture, and state-of-the-art large touchscreen displays. According to the press release, the rear seat area can transform into a dedicated mobile office, with personal mobile devices connected to the car, enabling a range of applications and vehicle-environment interfaces. In terms of performance, the Model E promises around 750 horsepower and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, with a range of 750 kilometers. The first Model E was entirely constructed at the Pininfarina atelier in Cambiano. “Our design team was responsible for defining the style of both the exterior and interior of the Model E, including the user experience inside the car. One of the main features is the intelligent surfaces on the front, side, and rear of the vehicle that demonstrate how the vehicle communicates with the outside world. These intelligent surfaces are enclosed within beautiful forms that showcase the power and sportiness of the vehicle, and at the same time, the elegance you expect from Pininfarina,” emphasizes Rice. On the same platform as the Model E, but not designed by Pininfarina, a SUV named Model C is also in development. The brand Foxtron has specified its dimensions: 464 cm in length with a wheelbase of 286 cm, likely the same as the sedan, and a cabin that can accommodate seven people (5+2). The SUV, characterized by a drag coefficient of 0.27, is projected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and have a range of 700 kilometers.
Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), a world leader in smart manufacturing, presented three self-developed electric vehicles for the first time: the Model E sedan developed in collaboration with Pininfarina, the Model C and the Model T electric bus.
