Hon Hai presents the Model E developed in collaboration with Pininfarina

Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), a world leader in smart manufacturing, presented three self-developed electric vehicles for the first time: the Model E sedan developed in collaboration with Pininfarina, the Model C and the Model T electric bus. The announcement was done during the Hon Hai Tech Day 2021 event (HHTD21) underlining Hon Hai’s commitment to become a next generation global automotive manufacturer.

The Model E, jointly developed by Hon Hai and the Italian design studio Pininfarina, is a technologically innovative luxury sedan capable of meeting the needs of the medium-high range of consumers. The rear seat space can be transformed into a dedicated mobile office, with personal mobile devices seamlessly connected to the car, enabling a range of smart applications such as door opening with facial recognition, smart windows and vehicle and environment interfaces.

In addition to luxury and comfort, the Model E, with high performance and advanced dynamic control technology, delivers approximately 750 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km in just 2.8 seconds, better than comparable models on the market. The Model E also has a range of 750km to meet the range anxiety of most electric car users.

“We are very proud to show the world a model that represents the best of Pininfarina’s skills and is the first step in an important strategic collaboration between the two companies” – comments Silvio Angori, CEO of Pininfarina. – “With Foxtron we share the same values, such as the propensity for innovation and attention to environmental sustainability. We now have a partner to explore the future of electric mobility together ”.

The Model E was entirely built in the Pininfarina atelier in Cambiano, where over the years unique models, small series, showcars and prototypes for the most prestigious automotive brands have been created by a highly qualified team.

“Our design team – explains Chief Creative Officer Pininfarina, Kevin Rice – was responsible for defining the style of both the exterior and interior of the Model E, including the user experience inside the car. One of the key features are the intelligent surfaces on the front, side and rear of the vehicle that demonstrate how the vehicle communicates with the outside world. These intelligent surfaces are enclosed within beautiful shapes that showcase the vehicle’s power and sportiness and, at the same time, the elegance you expect from Pininfarina. Even in the interior you can see a combination of elegance and cutting-edge technology to create something absolutely unique ”.

His passing leaves behind a legacy of innovation, dedication, and excellence that has deeply impacted both the automotive industry and the wider design world.

Paolo Pininfarina’s journey with the Pininfarina Group was one of unwavering commitment and passion. Throughout his tenure, Paolo played a pivotal role in steering the Pininfarina Group towards new horizons. Under his leadership, the company embarked on a diversification journey in the 1980s, expanding its scope beyond automotive design to become a benchmark in various design fields, from industrial design to architecture, nautical, and aeronautical design.
